SMT:Working with Surface Mount Technology

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Margarita Benitez's Wearable and Soft Computing class making use of the SMT lab.

Student applying solder paste on her blank board before a component is placed. SMT parts are fairly small that they need to be picked by tweezers. (One needs to invest in a good set of tweezers if you are going to be working with surface mount componenets. Tweezer can be as much as $40.)

Margarita reworking a student board with a fine tip soldering iron. We found for the most part, surface mount electronics are fairly easy to work with.
